Emily Miller is a public affairs consultant and writer in Washington, DC with over 15 years of experience. She is a contributing columnist to The Washington Times and Human Events. Also, she is the Gossip and Media Correspondent for the radio show “America’s Morning News”, which is nationally syndicated on 85 stations. She makes regular national TV appearances and is quoted often in national and local newspapers, magazines and websites.

Miller served as the Deputy Press Secretary at the U.S. Department of State as a political appointee in the administration of President George W. Bush. She worked directly with Secretaries of State Colin L. Powell and Condoleezza Rice to develop and implement communication strategies to achieve U.S. foreign policy objectives. She selected all of the Secretary’s domestic and international media interviews and public events. Also, Miller traveled with the Secretary on all overseas missions, taking her to 50 countries, most often to the Middle East.

Prior to her appointment at the State Department, Miller worked on Capitol Hill during the years that the Republicans were in the majority of both the U.S. House and Senate. She directed and developed strategic communications to support the Republican leadership’s legislative goals during the period of President Bush’s 100 days agenda and through the post- 9/11 period.

As Communications Director to the House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX), she provided counsel for internal and external communications of policy goals. Miller was the senior official spokesperson and spoke daily on-the-record to national print and TV reporters and editorial writers. Miller also served as Press Secretary Press Secretary for Rep. Rick Lazio (R-NY) and was his official spokesperson for all national and New York media

Miller also worked for five years in the Washington news bureaus of two television networks. At Abc News, she was the Associate Producer for ABC “This Week”- with David Brinkley and then later with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts. She used her extensive national and Washington contacts to set up interviews with high profile and prominent guests for the national public affairs show. Miller was also was an Associate Producer at ABC “Good Morning America” where she produced interviews and breaking news stories. She started her career at NBC News where she was a Production Assistant for NBC “Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.”

Active in her community, Miller is on the Board of Directors of Innocents at Risk (a non-profit fighting child trafficking) and The Bishop Walker School for Boys (an inner-city school run by the Episcopal Church). She teachers a weekly Sunday School class at Christ Church Georgetown. She is also a volunteer with the Salvation Army’s mobile soup kitchen.

A Baltimore native, Miller is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
